The Symantec Workflow™ component-based architecture easily integrates into all your standard software infrastructure programs, such as databases, file systems and messaging servers. This functionality gives you control in managing business processes where the human user and the computer system must interact. Symantec Workflow™ provides this management for both persistent process sessions (i.e. the session completes all at once) and interruptible sessions (where user interaction is asynchronous and the process completes over indeterminate times.)

• Visual process development - Harnesses the ease and power of a graphical environment to model and build any process.
• Web based/webservices-based task management: View, manage; delegate your tasks online with the web-based task management. 
• Integration with third-party applications - A business process is never isolated and is often part of a general application. From the user perspective, the process is managed within an application context. This feature ensures that the workflow integrates with the existing architecture, by providing hooks within workflow process to connect to the existing architecture. External applications can use the generated webservice API to either get additional information or post a response back to the workflow component.
• Fully configurable workflow process - This allows the process of assigning or reassigning tasks to people, groups of people or systems to be fully configurable and utilizes a consistent interface into the workflow system based upon standard .NET webservice technology.
• Flexibility in managing tasks and user interactions - This provides maximum flexibility in terms of the systems that are used to manage tasks and the interfaces that are utilized to respond to tasks.
